would anyone ever consider baking peanut butter cookies without the criss-cross pattern on the top?
making those tine patterns is the funnest part about baking peanut butter cookies…and they are a lot easier than baking gingerbread men or shaped cookies.
but are they anybody’s favorites???
whenever i have made a big platter of cookies for a party, and baked toll house, peanut butter and oatmeal cookies….the toll house cookies are all eaten, then some of the oatmeal cookies, and almost none of the peanut butter cookies.
i think people will eat peanut butter cookies when there are no chocolate chip cookies left in the cookie jar.
the cookies with a complex.
maybe it’s just me,
but i think homespun peanut butter cookies
should be served on a china plate
passed down from your grandmother,
with a paper doily….
(maybe even with a little chip on the edge.)
preferably when it is raining outside.
and thank your lucky stars
when you reach for the milk,
and the carton is mostly full:-)
Recently, I made a batch for my peanut-butter-loving girlfriend with chopped peanut-butter cups and Reece’s Pieces mixed in. The real delight was a a slight sprinkle of coarse salt on top of the cookies just before baking, which turned the confections from rich to divine.
